Description: | James McNeil Whistler (American, 1834 – 1903), etching on cream wove paper, "Little Arthur” (Kennedy 9), a later state impression from “Twelve Etchings from Nature”, depicting a child in period costume seated with hands folded in his lap. On the reverse, the print has a label “Arthur H. Hahlo & Co., 569 Fifth Avenue New York” and in handwriting on the label “Little Arthur” “Original Etching by Whistler Plate Destroyed”. The plate is 2 x 2 ½ inches, it is framed and matted and is 9 ¾ x 8 ½ inches overall. It is in fair condition with foxing, staining. |
